I'm having much the same problem as Palini, even after a complete re-installation of the panel.
The panel loads OK and I can click on anything I like as long as it doesn't produce a sound, as soon as I click on a switch or button that produces a sound, FSX crashes !
I've narrowed it down to the sound gauge from Doug Dawson, as in the MS error report it says that Lvar00 gave an exception error. If I comment out the Sound gauge in the panel config, everything works fine, only without sound.
I've checked that all the files are in their correct places, config files in the gauges folder and sound files in the FSX Sound folder I have even tried Dougs original gauge, nothing seems to work.
Can you think of anything else that I can try, or do you think I should get in touch directly with Doug.
it seems that FSX service pack 1 might be the culprit, I have tried the panel with a fresh install of FSX and the sound gauge works, but as soon as I install the service pack I get a CTD. Can anyone confirm this ?
Looks like congratulations are in order to Microsoft once again, for changing something that works for something that doesn't, without telling us !!!
I'm very sorry for this. Seems that FSX makes more problems on several systems than former FS versions. Unfortunately I couldn't check what happened here because I still don't have FSX. As soon as I have it, I will make some tryings to find the reason. Hope I could reconstruct the problem then.
Nevertheless I know that there are several FSX simmers using the panel without problems. Maybe one or more of them could post their experiences and we could find the differences.
I was in touch with Doug about this problem, it seems that FSX SP1 deprecated his gauge. He has sent me a new one that I will try out this weekend, if all goes well I'll pass it on to you by the end of the weekend.
