The Sound Gauge supplied with version 4 causes a crash when used with FSX SP1, this is because Microsoft/Aces have deprecated certain routines/api's used by the gauge.

Doug Dawson has kindly supplied us with a new gauge specifically for SP1.

This is an interim work around for FSX SP1 users only, until Matthias issues a new update for FSX.

NEW SIMPLIFIED INSTALLATION

1. Download this new gauge from Doug Dawson

for Bae Panel Project Version 4.x - ML-BAe146v40_Sound.gau

for HJG version 4.x - ML-BAe146v40HJG_Sound.gau

2. Unzip the file to FSX Gauges folder.

3. Restart FSX, click 'OK' when FSX asks you about 'ML-BAe146v40_Sound.gau' or 'ML-BAe146v40HJG_Sound.gau' , from Doug Dawson, and everything should work fine.

THERE IS NOW NO NEED TO EDIT THE PANEL CONFIG FILE

Good news - it works! At least for me. Now I can start a flight from the scratch and can spare me the reroute through some other plane. Thanks a lot!

Erm . . . by the way . . .
Do you happen to know why the original line was with backslash "\" while the new line is with slash "/" ?
As far as I know this is one of the differences between windows and unix languages - and since xml seems to come out of the internet corner one might have thought it must be with slash.
I am asking this, because I was tinkering with this before I copied that new dll into the gauges.

Any Ideas?

Oops, well spotted that man.

I was tinkering as well, before the gauge update. I wondered if the gauge was actually seeing the config file and if this was causing the crash. Doug Dawsons info on the gauge shows both styles and in fact both seem to work. This is just a leftover from my tinkering, if you change it back to the original slash it should still work.

Ah well . . . xml is still a closed book to me

Hi Adrian, hi Palani,

Great info. Seems that Doug's new gauge is really a solution for some problems It's the first thing I'm going to add in the separate FSX version. I hope that there aren't much more problems in FSX.

Best Regards
Matthias
