#1 Engine start up problem von Eddie 13.09.2007 12:05

Hi.
I`ve downloaded your excellent panel and having great difficulty starting the left engine.
I`ve followed the Auto and Manual starts from scratch but all i get is the engine ignition sound turning over but no firing.
Please help.

Hello Eddie,

Thank you very much for your compliment about the J31 panel. I'm very happy that you like it.

About your problem:
When the engine starts turning but without completely coming on, it's definitely a fuel problem. There are some things you should check:

Have you switched on the left lo pressure fuel valve in the overhead panel?
Have you started the left electric fuel pump in the overhead panel (fuel pump switch is on)?
Did you switch on the IEC computers in the overhead panel?
Did you forward the combustion lever in the pedestal panel?

Those were the four positions which may could be the reason if there is no engine fault. Hope you could find the reason in the above positions.

Best Regards
Matthias

Sorted it!!!
Just completed my first BA / Sun Air flight with your panel.
Think my problem was moving the levers to taxi. If I`m correct the "taxi" notch is slightly "up" and not right down.
Cheers.

Hi billhodges,

Sorry that I didn't write here sooner. Unfortunately I had no possibility the last days.

If I understand you correct, you could startup everything correctly, but the annunciator didn't work at all. If not, could you please give me some more details? I'm sure I could help you with this.

Best Regards
Matthias

Yer what happens is the annunciator work fine I've got the engines running all lights on the annunciator are off after engines start then after 10 minutes or so they cut of its like I've moved the condition levers off but the thing is I haven't it sounds like a fuel problem to me the is one thing after I start the second engine I go through all the checks and when it comes to reseting the bus tie the light doesn't go off so I'm wondering if its not changing to the main bus tie would that be a problem?

Hi billhodges,

Ah, now I understand. Well, this could also have some different reasons and it is not easy to say what it is by telediagnosis. Nevertheless may I ask you to repeat your flight? The reason is, because it's very important for me to know which failure light goes on before the engine goes off.

Reasons for the fault could be:

A not switched off fuel enrich switch,
Forgot to move the ignition to Normal (too long in position Energise) after preparing a manual start,
Engine temperature more than 660°C for too long (at least 5-10 minutes)
Torque more than 100 percent for more than 5-10 minutes
Too high oil temperature (check the switch of the oil cooler flaps),

Hope this helps a little bit.

Best Regards

Hi,I have installed the jet stream 31 panel and as soon as the engine starts, I have a high temperature on the engines and they shut off within five minutes. thanks, Dale

Hello Dale,

Please replace your flightdynamic files (airfile and aircraft.cfg) with the ones which are shipped with the panel. The standard flightdynamics have a much too high engine temperature. This is corrected with the files of my panel.

Matthias

Hello Gringo,

Unfortunately I couldn't help you with the J31 manual. I just have a copy from a pilot which I must not give away.

Best Regards
Matthias
